Mamta is a Consultant who works with FMA’s Outsourcing team to provide clients with advice and hands-on support in solving fiscal management, operational, and leadership challenges in accord with best-practices.
Mamta joins FMA from South Asian Youth Action (SAYA), where she served as Finance and Administration Director. She was responsible for managing a $4 million annual budget, including several government grants. She also worked with the leadership team on Strategic Planning, managed IT and office facilities, administered HR compliance for 120 employees and oversaw a major office renovation. Under her leadership SAYA implemented a participatory budgeting process, efficient financial monitoring practices and overhauled IT infrastructure and HR policies. Mamta saw the organization through the transition between Executive Directors and led the Finance Department to unprecedented stability, enabling a smooth transfer of leadership. Prior to joining SAYA, Mamta was the Founding Partner and Operations Manager for Aicon Gallery, an international showcase for contemporary Indian art, headquartered in New York and with galleries in London and New Delhi. She managed finances and operations across all three sites, reducing annual costs and streamlining operations, all while substantially reducing staff turnover.
Mamta earned a Master of Science in Architectural Studies and Urban Planning at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received an Executive Masters in Public Administration from NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service. She is an experienced user of QuickBooks, FundEZ, Raiser’s Edge and a variety of other tools. Currently a volunteer at Harlem Wellness Center, Mamta has also served in the past in a leadership capacity for her PTA and as Treasurer for ASHA for Education (NYCNJ Chapter). Mamta speaks Bengali and is fluent in Hindi.
