Director of Finance, New York Academy of Medicine

Job Summary

The New York Academy of Medicine seeks a highly motivated, experienced Director of Finance with strong leadership, management and supervisory experience plus excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills to direct its Department of Finance. Reporting to the Senior VP for Finance & Administration, major duties include overseeing budgeting, financial accounting, reporting and analysis, and preparation of annual audited financials and tax returns. Experience in a non-profit organization with federal, state, city and foundation grant and contract funding and knowledge of federal, state and city laws and regulations is important. Finance works closely with the Director of Grants and Contracts, the Human Resources team, and the Directors of the research, policy and program, library, and other administrative units at the Academy.

Qualifications and Skills

CPA required, Master’s Degree in Finance preferred plus a ten years of progressively responsible experience in non-profit organizations with significant grant and contract funding and fund accounting. Significant experience supervising employees. Proven track record of success.
