Welcoming new team members to FMA

Here at FMA, we’re very proud of our ability to attract and retain the highest quality and most talented consultants in nonprofit operations and fiscal management. In recent years, the loyalty and capability of our staff has enabled FMA to grow beyond our headquarters in New York City to open offices in Chicago, the Bay Area and Los Angeles. And our embrace of the same virtual and technological practices we recommend to our clients has allowed us to serve clients across the country.  So far, in 2016, we’ve added some extraordinary colleagues to the FMA team and welcomed a couple back! Get to know these new—and renewed—FMA staff below:

An important area of growth for FMA has been our west coast presence: Michele Woodson is one of our returning FMA staff.  She comes back to FMA after a 6-year hiatus spent at the Rutgers University Foundation, first as an accountant and later as an account supervisor.  She is now a Consultant on FMA’s Outsourced Solutions team and leads our Los Angeles office.


Jessica Huey recently joined the FMA team as a Consultant on our Consulting and Advisory team after hoJHuey Square for Weblding a number of positions for the City and County of San Francisco. Jessica was associate manager and a project manager for the Office of the City Administrator, as well as a labor negotiations analyst and a city hall fellow/policy analyst at the Department of Human Resources where she performed financial impact analysis and contract-related policy analysis on labor and budget negotiation proposals. And, to top it off, she’s an accomplished amateur dumpling-maker! She and Lead Consultant Rebecca Coker together serve FMA clients in the Bay Area from our offices in Oakland. rcoker-web-portrait square



In our New York headquarters, several new staff from diverse backgrounds have joined FMA’s Outsourced Solutions team: Americo DeSantis is a fiscal and operational expert with an impressive slate of credentials. He is a Cphoto-296x300 TEMPertified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant who joins FMA from SingleStop where he developed internal policies and procedures, reengineered and updated processes and implemented new technology. He also holds a master’s degree in history from Rutgers University and speaks several languages.

Salman Ghani, a Consultant on the Outsourced Solutions team, joins FMA from Concern Worldwide U.S. Inc., where he served as Grants and Compliance Accountant. Salman graduated with his Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting and minor in Political Science from Baruch College (CUNY) and has successfully passed all four parts of the Uniform CPA examination. Salman adds to FMA’s already considerable linguistic depth with his fluency in Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi.

Michele Campana joins FMA from Grove Fund Management, where she spent 5 years as a fund accountant and as a management company accountant. Michele graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Briarcliffe College and is now celebrating her newly minted CPA!

Gina McDonald, a Senior Consultant, brings 17 years of public accounting experience to FMA, including 10 years in GMcDonaldnonprofit and governmental accounting and financial reporting. Most recently she was Director of Finance at the Greater Providence (Rhode Island) YMCA, where she prepared separate monthly financials for nine locations and worked with personnel at each location to ensure adherence to fiscal policy and internal control procedures. Gina is on the board of the Rhode Island College Foundation and the Rhode Island Council for the Humanities and was a 2013 Providence Business News 40 Under Forty honoree. She graduated from Rhode Island College with Bachelor’s Degrees in Accounting and Spanish.

Rounding out our New York offices, the Consulting and Advisory team welcomed back Cathryn McAleavey as a Senior Consultant!  Cathryn spent several years at FMA, as an Associate and then as a Consultant.  In the inCMcAleavey Portrait Squaretervening time, she spent seven years at Single Stop USA, most recently as Chief Finance and Administration Officer, where she managed the organization’s financial, accounting, and administrative functions, ensuring that Single Stop had the internal processes and infrastructure necessary to fulfill its mission. Cathryn has significant experience managing complex financial systems, diverse revenue streams, multi-site distribution models, and sub-grant programs. She is a graduate of New York University’s Stern School of Business where she received a B.S. in Finance and International Business, and she also holds an M.P.A. from New York University’s Wagner School of Public Service.

And finally, we were delighted to welcome aboard David Fazio, our newest Senior Advisor, a seasoned executive with more than 25 years of experience in financial leadership roles in the healthcare, youth, social services, and education DFaziosectors. As Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Commissioner of Child Care and Head Start at Administration for Children’s Services in New York, David managed the agency’s $2.4 billion annual budget and successfully lobbied to increase funds for children’s services by approximately $500 million annually since the agency was created. David currently serves on the boards of organizations including pet welfare organization Bideawee and the National LGBT Cancer Network.

Of course, with all of these great new additions to the FMA team serving our clients directly, we also needed somagrzeshe new muscle behind the scenes: Our new Marketing and Communications Associate, Alyssa Grzesh, was previously the Communications and Marketing Director of the Forum on Law, Culture & Society at NYU Law School, where she helped to build the organization’s already-devoted following with press and membership outreach. Alyssa received a BA in Political Science and Human Rights from Wellesley College. She received her JD from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she continued to focus on Human Rights studies until finding an outlet for her love of creative and persuasive writing in the communications sector.

Nisha Chojar, FMA’s newest Program Assistant, keeps our New York offices pulsing with energy and trains running on time! Nisha recently graduated from New York University with her Bachelor of Science in Global Public Health and Nisha Chojar on WhiteApplied Psychology and a minor in Social and Public Policy. She also received a Global Programs Merit Scholarship. In addition to her academic pursuits, Nisha is a musician who plays the flute, guitar, mellophone, and piano. At FMA, we are certainly looking forward to her next mellophone performance (and learning exactly what a mellophone is).


We’re thrilled to have such a wealth of talent and diversity at our fingertips for helping surmount the broad range of organizational challenges our clients face. Whether serving organizations from our offices on the ground in Los Angeles, Oakland, Chicago or New York or through virtual delivery in communities across the country, our team members are resourceful and creative, and they enrich our personal and work lives and those of our clients immensely.
